Sendo um verdadeiro exemplo de empoderamento feminino, é através do seu quotidiano que Filomena, Lurdes e Hermínia se sobressaem enquanto seres individuais, fugindo dos estereótipos comumente associados às peixeiras.

Joana Loureiro Araújo
Joana Araújo is a young director with a degree in Communication Sciences at FLUP and currently in the 2nd year of her Master's Degree in Documentary and Experimental Cinema at ESMAD. Having worked on audiovisual content production for Canal180, ranging from filming to editing, and co-directing the documentary series "From The Backstage", she now shares her debut documentary film "Mestres, Mães do Mar".

A portrayal of "Mestres", mothers of the sea, women of strength who support their family and the sale of fish, driven by the tradition of a matriarchal society in Vila do Conde. Being a true example of female empowerment, it is through their daily lives that Filomena, Lurdes and Hermínia stand out as individual beings, escaping the stereotypes commonly associated with fishmongers.
