DOC. LAB
COIMBRA
DOC. LAB. Coimbra is a project laboratory held in the city of Coimbra, Portugal. A space where filmmakers meet to increase the creative possibilities of their projects and prepare them for the national and international documentary market with the help of experienced tutors in the field of filmmaking and writing.
Documentary projects (scripts) in the development stage are eligible to apply to DOC LAB.
Projects from all countries are welcome.
The workshop will be held in person and the full participation of
participation is mandatory if the project is selected.
A second person can take part with the main director, as long as they are scriptwriters, co-directors or producers.
Registration
Registration for DOC LAB is online only, using the form,
available at https://filmfreeway.com/DocLabCoimbra.
Projects must contain in a single PDF file:

Name of the project, director's name, country and city of origin.

Short synopsis (up to 5 lines)

Director's personal note (1 page)

Plot (between 5 and 10 pages)

Creative process (up to two pages, note on how the project will be filmed and edited, mention if narration, interviews, archive footage will be used)

Director Bio (up to 6 lines)

The deadline for submissions is February 2, 2025, 23:59 (UTC-1).
There is no limit to the number of projects submitted by each applicant.

The projects submitted will go through a selection process, which will result in
result in between 8 and 12 participating projects. Applicants will be notified of the results by e-mail.
Once a project has been selected, the full participation of the in the lab's activities. If this is not possible, the available to the first alternate project.
The selected participants will have free access to the sections of the Coimbra Doc Festival, which will take place on the same dates as the Lab.
Selected participants will receive discounts on accommodation and food in partner hotels and restaurants.
DOC LAB COIMBRA does not provide transportation, train or plane tickets, but will provide all possible assistance for participants to find the best way to get to Coimbra.
The selected projects will undertake to include in the credits of the film
credits of the film with the laurel "PROJECT DEVELOPED AT DOC LAB COIMBRA".
Applying for the call implies full acceptance of these
regulations.
Any situation not covered by these regulations will be resolved by the
organization.
Calendar

Announcement of selected projects: by February 22, 2025.
DOC LAB COIMBRA will be held (in person) between february 25 and 30, 2025.
